House Guide
Climate
Florida air is generous with its warmth. The apartment cools quickly once the doors are closed.
A comfortable stay
Most guests settle between 72° and 75° on cool. Ceiling fans do a great deal of the work, so try a fan first before dropping the temperature further.
Keep windows and exterior doors closed while the air conditioning runs — humid air undoes an hour of cooling in minutes.
Using the thermostat
The apartment has a Nest thermostat by the door. Step close and it wakes on its own.
Rotate the outer ring to raise or lower the target temperature, and press the face to open the menu if you want to switch between cool, heat and fan.
Gently energy-conscious
A few easy habits keep the house efficient without any loss of comfort:
- Nudge the temperature up a couple of degrees when you head out for the day.
- Draw the shades on the sunny side in the afternoon.
- Set the thermostat to 80° on cool when you leave at the end of your stay.
- Turn fans and lights off in rooms nobody is using.
Summer weather
Between May and October, afternoon storms roll through quickly. If the wind picks up, close the umbrellas on the terrace and bring cushions under cover — it is usually bright again within the hour.
