House Guide

Pets

Dogs and cats are genuinely welcome here — a dog of our own lives on the property, so the house is used to four legs.

A pet-friendly welcome

Let us know about your pet when you book so we can prepare and introduce them properly. Well-mannered dogs and cats are welcome; we are not able to host aggressive breeds.

Our own dog is friendly and curious. Meetings on neutral ground in the front yard go best.

In the yard

Pets should be leashed in the shared breezeway, patio and lakeside areas — the lawn opens straight onto the water, and neighbors pass by along the shore.

The lawn is the best place for stretching legs and for garden games. The planted beds, the potted colour on the patio and the roots of the old oaks take years to establish, so please keep digging and marking to the grass.

Cleanup

Bags and a bin live by the stairs. Please pick up straight away — the lawn is walked barefoot most days.

Muddy or lake-soaked paws rinse easily under the outdoor shower beside the pool bathroom; a towel for pets hangs there too. Kindly leave the apartment's guest towels for people.

Pool & deck

Pets are not able to swim in the pool or the spa, and the pool slide is off limits — the filtration and the tile finish are not built for claws.

They are very welcome on the terrace in the shade beside you. Please keep them off the outdoor cushions and away from the fire pits when lit.

Looking after the house

Pets should not be left alone in the apartment for long stretches, and beds and sofas are best kept for people — a blanket from home usually settles the question.

If your pet has an accident indoors, tell us; we would far rather help clean it properly than have it discovered later. Local pet-sitting and grooming referrals are available if you need an afternoon free.
